Steel Fabrication

All steel is fabricated using circular hollow section members provided by reputable local suppliers and specified by our engineer for each individual project.

Our steel is fabricated in a small bespoke factory in accordance with strict quality standards and adhering exact structural design instructions. All welding is carried out by qualified and experienced welders with no apprentices allowed to work on our projects

Structural Design

Each Sun Shade Australia project is structurally designed to be site specific to the requirements of the Building code of Australia compliance.

This means your shade installation is custom designed for your site conditions and you will be issued with a set of structural drawings for your project. There are no standard or off-the shelf products.

Since 1997, we have continued to work with the original structural engineer who is now a partner with this leading and highly regarded, engineering firm. This guarantees that you can be confident that the safety, integrity and consistency of our product is second to none.

SHADECLOTH

Shadecloth is an excellent and affordable product. We use only the best suppliers available to ensure both longevity and very high UV protection for our customers. The knitted composition of a shade cloth fabric offers the following advantages:

- Light in weight
- Allows airflow to prevent build-up of heat and reduce noise
- Up to 99.7% UV protection
- Protection from weather in light to medium rain
- A broad and attractive array of colours to coordinate with your setting

PVC – Polyvinyl Chloride

PVC is a woven base cloth with a polymer coating. It is often referred to as a tensile membrane fabric. It offers the versatility of high UV protection and is also waterproof. It can be used in a wide range of applications where weather protection is a requirement. It can be used on small or very large applications and where an architectural dimension is required. Depending on the choice of fabrics suitable for your application, PVC warranties range from 10-20 years.

Painted Components

Sun Shade Australia uses a paint system which is available in a wide range of colours. You can complement your existing environment or introduce exciting new colours to improve the aesthetic of any space.

Rather than the dull, industrial and uneven appearance of galvanised steel posts, we recommend painting your steel. You’ll certainly notice the difference and so will your community.

Sun Shade Australia ensures all steel members are painted using a 3 part epoxy industrial coating system recommended by Dulux for extended lifespan and strength optimisation. This includes customised abrasive blasting, and 3 layers of protective metal coating that together ensure your project is finished to the highest possible standard.

Unlike powder coating, this paint DOES NOT chip and flake and it is recoatable. With an expected lifespan of 15-20 years before recoating is required and a stylish glossy finish, it is the best choice for your shade project.

Connections & Fittings

All connections and fittings used to complete the installation of our products are of the highest available quality. This assures you that Sun Shade products will continue to look great longer.

  • Sun Shade Australia’s products always have high tensile steel cable in the hems.

  • Unlike nylon webbing which stretches and tears, steel cable remains secure and ensures your shade products, don’t sag and flap.

  • Cable size and composition is specified for your installation on your site during the structural design process by the engineer.

  • We use both hot dip galvanized and stainless steel fittings as specified.
